Description
The Gaelic name Glenfiddich means “Valley of the Deer”. The story began in Dufftown on the banks of the Fiddich River and continues to encompass the world to this day. A drink that initially only the neighbors knew became Glenfiddich, the most popular single malt whiskey in the world.
The distillery’s founder, Major William Grant, and his seven sons wanted to create a particularly unique whiskey when William Grant bought land in the Speyside region, deep in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, in the fall of 1886. On Christmas Eve 1887, the first whiskey flowed into the Glenfiddich distillery. The crystal clear water of the Robbie Dhu spring, the barley, the pure air of the plateau and the unusually small size of the stills produced a Scottish single malt whiskey, the quality of which could not be improved – just as William Grant had hoped.
Today, Glenfiddich is the only distillery in the Scottish Highlands that is still owned by the founding family – a family that has preserved the independence and principles of their ancestors. Despite increased demand, any temptation to adapt or even change the production method was resisted. Glenfiddich is still made in the same place with the same ingredients, using the same distillation process and with the traditional craftsmanship of the Malt Master.
Glenfiddich 125th Anniversarywas launched as a limited edition for the company’s 125th anniversary and brought to market in a beautiful metal gift box. This gold-colored single malt whiskey has a very rich and balanced aroma, with notes of smoke, spices and caramel, but also a lot of fruit. The taste of this single malt is round and complex, oak and vanilla, but also notes of smoke, fruit and spices. A long finish follows, with a pleasant dry smokiness.
